To commemorate the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, the Royal Mint issued a 4 coin gold proof £2 piece set. The reverse of all 4 coins depicts a running athlete with a flag, one showing the English flag, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland. Each two pound piece is made of 22 carat gold, and weighs 15.98 grams. Only 315 sets were produced by the Royal Mint.

Description

The 2002 Royal Mint 4 coin gold proof £2 piece set was issued to commemorate the Manchester Commonwealth Games. Each coin depicts a running athlete with a flag - One for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverses. All of the £2 coins are made of 22 carat gold, and weigh 15.98 grams each. Only 315 sets were produced by the Royal Mint in 2002.
