The 2020 gold proof sovereign commemorates the 200th anniversary of the death of King George III, with a small mint mark next to the date. The 2020 gold proof sovereign is made of 22 carat gold (0.916 fine), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm. Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous portrayal of St George and the dragon can be seen on the reverse. Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait features on the obverse. The sovereign comes in a wooden presentation case, outer black card box and sleeve. Accompanying the coin is a numbered certificate of authenticity, as well as an information booklet. Only 7.995 2020 gold proof sovereigns have been issued by the Royal Mint.Summary
